February 2025 Meeting & AGM
This Thursday February 13 at Bracken Ridge topic is “soft food, wet & dry. Different ingredients, different quantities, all will be discussed in full. Every one is welcome.
As advised last year, our Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday February 13th and I ask that all members consider taking on a role. You don’t have to personally attend committee meetings which are held on the first Tuesday of each month (except January) as you can attend via zoom. Our meetings only take between 30 to 60 minutes and very good friendships can be formed. For the past couple of years, our committee has only had six members who have worked very well together but and I am certain we can come up with some exciting ideas for general meetings etc if we had more on board.
January 2025 Meeting
Our next meeting on Thursday January 9 should be informative as the topic is “Things to change in 2025”. What did you do last year that was either successful or unsuccessful? Everyone does something a little different and we want to know what worked for you and what didn’t. Anyone who hasn’t collected their 2025 rings can collect them at this meeting
BNSBS Annual Show
Our Annual Show which will be held on Sunday August 25th at Strathpine Community Hall, Mecklem St; I will attach the show schedule again for your reference. Entries close Monday 19th. Don’t know how to enter birds, please call Angela on 0415 051 110 or Carol 0403 084 154.
We need you to put in as many birds as you have bred please as we want to have over 300 entries.
Also of major importance is set up of the hall is at 4pm on Saturday, August 24th.
August Meeting
Our general meeting to be held on Thursday, 8th August. Topic is “The good and the bad”. You will get to point out the good points and the bad points (in your opinion) and see if the judges agree. We try not to be negative in our judging but when it comes to pairing up you have to be honest in your assessment. If you have a pair/pairs in mind bring them down .
Birds for the table show are 2023 young, 2024 Juveniles and 2024 Nestfeathers. Table shows are a great way of training your birds as well as getting opinions on their quality and if you should let the parents go a second round.
We will also be discussing tricks to bring your birds into breeding/show condition so please come along.

March Meeting
Thursday, 14 February is the date for our next meeting which we hope you will attend.
Mr Peter Thurn, President of the Budgerigar Council Victoria and Hall of Fame Breeder will be speaking to us via zoom link and answering all your questions.
This is an opportunity that does not come along very often so take advantage. Peter is a wealth of knowledge, an excellent speaker and a very entertaining man. We want as many people as possible to attend our meeting and seek as much knowledge as you can. Please come armed with questions, notebook and pen. If you cannot attend but would like the zoom link, please let me know but we really want you in attendance.
Birds to bring along for the table show are 2023 rung young birds, and 2024 Nestfeathers. The more birds we have the better the evening will be. Supper will be available free of charge to all who attend. A sincere thank you to everyone who brings down a treat for supper.
February Meeting
Thursday, 8 February is the date for our next meeting which we hope you will attend. Following a quick Annual General Meeting, the theme for the evening is “You determining what is the best bird benched”. This will be a hands on evening and a lot of information can be gained. This will be another interesting evening so please come along and join us.
Please don’t be turned off attending the Annual General Meeting because we have never forced anyone onto the committee, and we never will. If you wish to talk about being on the committee with a wonderful group of people, please contact either Angela on 0415 051 110 or myself on 0403 084 154. Committee meetings are held in the Library or if you have a computer, you can attend using that whilst being in your pyjamas (if you wish).

January Meeting
Thursday, 11 January is the date for our next meeting which we hope you will attend. Topic will be Preparing your birds for the breeding season. Breeding season is not just a matter of pairing up birds which you would like to see mated: It is a process leading up to the pairing that has a major impact on fertility, hatchability, feeding youngsters etc. This will be another interesting evening so please come along and join us.
Birds to bring along for the table show are 2023 rung young birds, Juvenile and Nestfeathers. Supper will be available free of charge to all who attend.
October Meeting
Garry Menzies will be giving an informative talk on Line Breeding & Inbreeding of Budgerigars.

February 9 will be a quick AGM followed by a forum with two very experienced breeders, Lynne Miller & Glenn Winch, in attendance to answer all YOUR questions.

“Colour Expectations”. E.g.: Greygreen to a Sky etc. You may think this sounds like a very simple meeting, but you may be surprised how many colour varieties you can breed.
December Meeting
Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 7pm, Aspley Leagues Club, Kirby Rd Aspley.
Garlic Bread, Roast Dinner & Dessert. Lucky door prizes. Club is subsidising so only $15 per head.

November Meeting
Thursday November 10 is a meeting not to be missed. We will have 8 cocks & 8 hens and we are going to ask you to pick the top 3 pairs to put together to breed quality young. Then Hall of Fame breeder, Henry George will give us his choices and reasons why.
The information you will gain from the night will guide you for years to come.
